- Foundation Proyecto Ecológico Chiriboga
The Foundation Proyecto Ecológico Chiriboga was established in January of 1999 with the following principal mandate:
- to promote the development of the community whose activities are related with environmental scope and local economy development.
- to help people realise the importance of reforestation and agriculture in the area, with help of the community, international volunteers and the participation of the government institutions related to urban conglomeration, environment, life quality, equity relations between the population and its environment.
Until 2005, Concordia has been placing volunteers on projects in Ecuador through our German partner organisation, IBG. In 2006 the co-operation between IBG and the Foundation Proyecto Ecológico Chiriboga was unable to continue for financial reasons. We would like to continue to place volunteers directly as feedback from previous volunteers have been excellent. However we would ask volunteers to recognise that this is a new development and be understanding of this fact, as well as commit to giving us a full evaluation to help us determine how to continue the co-operation in future years.
