IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Visa: required. This can be obtained on entry to the country or from the Royal Nepalese Embassy in London. Please visit www.fco.gov.uk for more information.
  • Arrival info: For each project, the volunteer should arrive in Kathmandu a day before the start date in order to attend the orientation meeting in the NIFC office. On arrival, volunteers will be met at the airport. Transport to the project is also generally arranged by NIFC. The extra fee for all NIFC projects is NRS15,000 (€165), payable on arrival.
  • Volunteers interested in taking part in an NIFC project should have previous experience of volunteering/travelling in a North South context and should keep informed of political developments within the country. Due to the instability within the country, project locations and work may be liable to change and volunteers should be flexible and prepared for this at any stage of the project.
