Our worldwide volunteer network
At Concordia we’re proud to work in partnership with 80 organisations around the world. Together we run projects that make a genuine difference to the community – so you can feel a real sense of achievement and pride. Our partners are all part of the Alliance of European Voluntary Services or The Co-ordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS).
Volunteering abroad – where to go?
Wherever you choose to volunteer you’ll benefit from the in-depth, local knowledge of our network of partners. Whether you go to Italy or Indonesia, you’ll have the chance to meet fellow volunteers from all over the world, and experience a different culture and language.
You may find that the accommodation on a rural, conservation project in France is more basic than on a community volunteering programme in Vietnam, so keep an open mind when researching the options.
When trying to decide where to volunteer you could consider the weather/temperature, the local language, in-country costs, the general level of development of the country, and of course keep in mind that typically, the further you travel, the more expensive the flight.
Concordia offers five kinds of overseas volunteering:
East West Programme
Short-term volunteer projects abroad (2 – 3 weeks) mainly in North America, Europe and South East Asia. Mostly run during the summer from June to September. Usually no training is needed for these programmes.
North South Programme
Short-term community based volunteer projects (2 – 3 weeks) across the world, mostly in Africa, Asia and South American countries. To take part in these programmes, you need to attend a Concordia preparation session.
Projects usually lasting 1– 6 months, with our partner organisations across the world.
Community projects of 2 – 3 weeks, tailored for groups of 6 – 12 participants from schools, community groups and universities.
European Voluntary Service
Fully-funded volunteer projects across the world for up to 12 months, for UK and EU citizens aged 18 – 30.
Summer programme 2017
Currently we have many projects available running between now and May 2017.
Our new 2017 summer programme will be available online with more than 1500 projects listed from March 2017. If you want to be notified as soon as the new programme is released, email firstname.lastname@example.org and write in the subject “Summer Programme Request 2017“.
Testimonials from international volunteers on our projects
This video was produced by the Alliance, and represents our international network of volunteer organisations. It includes interviews with international volunteers and partner organisations overseas. The video will give you a good idea of the kinds of project you could join with Concordia.
